Fellowship Program - Omaha

Clinical Training

Clinical training takes place within CHI Health, an academic health system which includes five urban hospitals and over 70 clinics in the Omaha area. Fellows are primarily at Creighton University Medical Center and rotate to one large community hospital (Lakeside Hospital) and to an ambulatory endoscopy center.  We are the referral center for the larger health system (15 hospitals and more than 150 physician practice groups across Nebraska and eastern Iowa).

In addition to clinical breadth, fellows have world-class support in clinical and translational sciences, genetics and GI malignancies. Current fellows are investigating gastric cancer in Lynch syndrome, GI absorption in various physiologic and disease states, and colon cancer screening in economically disadvantaged populations.

About our Faculty

GI faculty are recruited based on their desire to teach and their expertise within a specialized area of gastroenterology, including motility, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, pancreatic disease, absorption, and hereditary GI cancers.  They share their teaching and clinical expertise with exceptional faculty in GI surgery, GI radiology, and GI pathology through formal didactic presentations, regional conferences, as well as clinical and research collaborations.
