General Internal Medicine, the largest division in the Department of Medicine, faculty members provide comprehensive medical care for men and women over the age of 15.
In addition to staffing the inpatient services at Creighton University Medical Center and Omaha VA Medical Center, General Internal Medicine also directs the resident continuity clinics at both institutions and Creighton Medical Associates clinics.
In the outpatient setting, emphasis is placed on preventive care and risk reduction, as well as management of complicated medical problems. The busy inpatient service accepts unassigned patients from the CUMC Emergency Room and also provides referral inpatient care for smaller hospitals in the outlying communities of Nebraska and Iowa. This provides an excellent mix of patients above and beyond those from the Creighton practice.
