History of Creighton AOA Chapter

The &946; chapter of Nebraska AOA Honor Medical Society was constituted April 25, 1957, with Walter Bierring as President (Councellor) and J.J. Moore on Secretary/Treasurer.

Since 1957, students, house staff physicians, faculty and alumni with exceptional academic records and who have shown the highest standards of professionalism and demonstrated leadership skill have been inducted each year.  The chapter sponsors a visiting professorship and a service project each year.
 

Service Projects

The service projects have included sponsoring the Make-a-Wish foundation 10K run, blood drives, walks & runs for children with diabetes, highway litter removal, and a fund raisers to buy Children’s Spanish language books for the Omaha Public Library. The current project is registering bone marrow donors.

Activities

Each year the chapter sponsors a visiting professorship during the induction week. These distinguished physicians have exemplified the AOA ideals of leadership, scholarship and service. Many have been alumni of the School of Medicine who have risen to positions of national stature in their fields.
