Dr. Filipi currently is an Professor of Surgery at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his Doctorate of Medicine at Iowa University School of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa, followed by an Internship of Mixed Medicine that was completed at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California. He completed his General Surgical Residency at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Filipi is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of numerous surgical societies. Dr. Filipi’s clinical interest include laparoscopic surgery for gastroesophageal reflux, reoperative surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease, achalasia, peptic ulcer disease, intraluminal surgery for upper GI bleeding, removal of early and gastric cancers. He also performs thoracic surgery for gastroesophageal reflux and recently has helped develop a transoral endoscopic procedure for the same disorder. His primary research interest is esophageal disease.
