Six residents were recognized for their outstanding patent care and commitment to teaching students during the Student Clinician’s Ceremony on July 1, 2009.  Attending the ceremony were:  Dr. Robert Lindau, Department of Surgery, a four-time winner of this award, Dr. Eric Peters, Department of Internal Medicine, and Dr. Brent Tierney, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Dr. Rowen Zetterman, Dean of the School of Medicine, presented each resident with a specially designed lapel pin, a frameable certificate, and a check from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.  Dr. Andrew DeNazareth was not able to attend because he is currently on a medical mission trip as part of our Institute for Latin American Concern in the Dominican Republic.  Dr. Dawn Tanner is currently in residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of California – Davis, in Sacramento.  Dr. Wilson Gonsalves was also unable to attend this ceremony.

All of these residents are extraordinary examples for students to emulate.  They have enthusiastically dedicated themselves to teaching, have shown professionalism beyond reproach, and have modeled an unyielding commitment to and compassion for the care of their patients.  The Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Awards are sponsored by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation and we gratefully acknowledge their support.
