Kerry-Ann Williams Selected for Detre Senior Medical Student Award in Psychiatry
Kerry-Ann Williams, third-year medical student at Creighton University, has been selected to receive a University of Pittsburgh / Dr. Thomas Detre Senior Medical Student Award in Psychiatry.
Awardees have the opportunity to create a unique one-month clinical sub-internship or research experience with a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh, where the clinical and research faculty are world-renowned for contributions in pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, child and adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and substance use disorders.
Ms. Williams commented, “This is such a wonderful opportunity. It is an honor to have been selected by one of the top psychiatry programs in the country to complete this sub-internship in my fourth year."
This is the third year that the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, and the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, have given this award to advanced students planning a career within psychiatry.
Williams concluded, "Hopefully, the compassion and commitment to patient care that Creighton has impressed upon me will be evident to all who work with me.”
