This is a very exciting time for the Creighton University School of Medicine.  On June 30, 2009, we announced a joint venture with St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ that has created a new clinical campus for Creighton - Creighton University School of Medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center.  The new clinical campus allows Creighton to increase its first year class from 126 to 152, and ensures our students continue to receive an excellent and robust clinical experience.  These new changes were instituted with the Fall 2010 M1 Class.

Going forward when students reach their M3 year (beginning in the fall of 2012):

  • 42 students will have the opportunity to complete their clinical experience (M3 and M4 years) in Phoenix at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center.
  • 110 students will complete their clinical experience (M3 and M4 years) in Omaha at Creighton University Medical Center and affiliated hospitals.

Both groups will have the opportunity to do month long rotations at either campus during the M4 year.

Students will be asked to state their preference between the two clinical campuses at time of acceptance.  They will be assigned to each campus based on their preference; however, if there is an inadequate number of students for either clinical campus, students will be assigned a clinical campus through a lottery process completed on June 1.
