Floyd C. Knoop, Ph.D., M.S.  joined Creighton University as an assistant professor, supporting the teaching and clinical efforts and research endeavors of the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology (MMI). He was fortunate enough to experience academics early in his career and to develop research projects leading to the acquisition of both private and public funding, including NIH. Currently he is a Full Professor in the Department and first-year Component Director in the Office of Medical Education (OME). His background is broad-based in the expansive area of biology, including detailed training in medical microbiology, biochemistry and infectious disease. In addition he has a degree in psychology. Endeavors at Creighton University have allowed Dr. Knoop to develop the expertise, leadership, training and drive and determination to successfully complete competitive research proposals and to accomplish rewarding lectures in the areas of virology, parasitology and medical microbiology, including infectious disease. Currently he enjoys delivering lectures to students enrolled in the Graduate School, School of Medicine, Boyne School of Dentistry, and School of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions. His responsibilities also include oversight of ≈150 first year medical students and the first year medical curriculum. In addition he serves on numerous committees that embody the University, School of Medicine, and Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology.  Other scholarly actions include manuscript and grant reviews and he serves as Associate Editor for the journal Medical Science Educator.  In his free time, Dr. Knoop loves to travel abroad and ‘dabble’ in home projects with his wife Pam.  Grateful for considerable support by MMI & OME, Dr. Knoop assures that new students are welcomed in a way that has become customary in the School of Medicine at Creighton University.  [Additional information can be found in Dr. Knoop’s full Curriculum Vitae located at:  https://dms.creighton.edu/sites/default/files/faculty-cv-files/Knoop%20CV_2017.pdf ]
