Health Care Partnership Expands Creighton’s Service Reach

The health care partnership between Creighton University and Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix has expanded Creighton’s service outreach, to include a recently established student-run clinic at the St. Vincent DePaul medical clinic and an alumni-founded clinic in Mexico.

Lauren Glaser (shown), a fourth-year medical student, led the establishment of the Phoenix area clinic that is run by student volunteers, including Courtney Smith and Ahmad Attalah (shown). 

Creighton alumnus George Stavros, MD’62, followed his call to medicine and mission work and, along with his church community, developed a medical clinic from scratch on donated land 60 miles south of Phoenix in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. Each clinic day, approx­imately 150 patients get care that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to access, and some third- and fourth-year medical students from the Phoenix Regional Campus volunteer at the clinic.
