Maureen Tierney, MD, named chair of Department of Clinical Research
Creighton University School of Medicine has named Maureen Tierney, MD, MSc, chair of the Department of Clinical Research, assistant dean for clinical research and public health, and associate professor of medicine. In addition, Tierney will serve as medical director of clinical research at CHI Health.
“I am thrilled to become a part of the Creighton School of Medicine and CHI Health. I was introduced to Jesuit education at Fordham University in my hometown of New York City, and both my sons recently graduated from Creighton, so being able to contribute to the Jesuit mission of magis and serving others is so important to me,” said Tierney.
Under Tierney’s guidance, the Department of Clinical Research will facilitate the process of conducting clinical research from inception through completion, including concept review, trial feasibility and design, funding acquisition, statistical review and publication. The ultimate goal is scientific discovery to facilitate prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease and to improve health care, including health care equity. Tierney will also lead an initiative to review clinical research activities of School of Medicine faculty on our Phoenix campus and develop plans to support faculty in their research efforts.
