Applying for PPPP

Application Requirements

Candidates will need to submit a formal application during the year preceding their projected entry into the program.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited general pediatrics residency
  • Three letters of reference are required. Letters of reference should support your qualifications for a career in psychiatry.
  • A current license to practice medicine or eligible to receive on in the state of Nebraska.
  • We require you to have passed the USMLE Step 3 or COMLEX Level 3 to be considered. We prefer an average USMLE score of 200 with no fails; however, if you show particular promise for a career in clinical psychiatry, we may accept somewhat lower scores.  Candidates with two or more failures are unlikely to be considered.
  • International medical graduates (IMGs) must be eligible for a J-1 visa.  The program does not accept H-1B visas.  International graduates without American citizenship cannot begin the program without acquiring a green card or J-1 visa.
  • We are seeking candidates who have had relevant residency training or clinical responsibilities in the last three years.  Unless the candidate has exceptional, demonstrated promise, candidates who have been away from formal training or the practice of medicine for more than three years are unlikely to be considered.
