The Creighton Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) is open to all Creighton medical students, M1-M4, particularly those interested in family medicine. Creighton’s FMIG is designed to inspire students to pursue primary care through meaningful experiences, hands-on opportunities and mentorship. Students in FMIG have access to upperclassmen, residents and faculty who are in family medicine and available to discuss rotation options, residency application process, etc. A diverse group of family medicine physicians speak throughout the year providing students with information regarding family medicine as well as the subspecialties within family medicine.

We are very excited about the upcoming year! We will be coordinating student caravans to attend the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) National Conference in Kansas City, hosting clinical skills workshops with local physicians and participating in mentoring events and volunteer opportunities.

Membership to the FMIG includes a free membership to the AAFP and its Nebraska chapter, the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians. Membership also includes a subscription to the American Family Physicians journal. The journal, published every 2 weeks, offers informative articles on a variety of diseases in an easy-to-read format.

If you are interested in joining our FMIG listserv, please contact one of our elected officers. We look forward to meeting you at FMIG functions!
