Four years ago, I was in the same position as you are currently -interviewing for an OB fellowship position straight out of Family Medicine residency. I was excited to be offered the fellowship position here in Omaha. I came from a family with eight siblings and have always been in close proximity with someone I knew. But when I relocated to Omaha, I didn't know anyone. Not only did I receive great training from the best OB-GYN physician group, but I was very fortunate to find the most valuable thing - support and friendship. I have found an extended family with the L&D team. I am humbled to be able to call my previous attending my friends and colleagues, who continue to be there for me. Who could leave that? Here I am still in Omaha, practicing full scope Family Medicine, and thrilled with the opportunity to be a part of the fellowship program so that I can pay it forward.

We originally moved to Omaha for a military assignment and once I was finished my Air Force career, I took a job at Immanuel with CHI. We liked Omaha and decided to make it home. I was involved in teaching family medicine residents and working alongside family medicine docs who practiced obstetrics while I was in the Air Force and was happy to continue that work here. Currently, I am the faculty advisor for the Family Medicine-Obstetrics Fellowship at Creighton and in this role, I get to spend a lot of time teaching and working with the fellow.

After practicing full spectrum family medicine in Pennsylvania for a couple of years, we moved to Omaha in 2016 so I could complete the OB fellowship. We thought the move would be temporary but ended up settling here because we liked it so much. I found a home on the L&D floor at Immanuel and I found a home in the Creighton Department of Family Medicine. This is a special place!

I am an Omaha girl through and through! I was born here, grew up here, went to Creighton for undergrad and then to University of Nebraska Medical Center for Medical School. After a brief move to Michigan for OB-GYN residency, I was happy to move back and found a new home here at Immanuel. My husband originates in small town Nebraska, where the FM doctors are absolute heroes! They are tasked with providing an unbelievable scope of practice- procedures that in urban areas would be splintered off to ER doctors, GI doctors, and of course obstetrics. That is why I recognize the need for FM doctors to receive excellent training and adequate volume to have both the competence and confidence to care for their patients, and why I am passionate about participating in this fellowship!

Hello and thank you for joining us. I entered the World of Obstetrics through Family Medicine. I started my residency in Fort Wayne Indiana as a Family Medicine. I got hooked to the OB field and decided to make it my journey in this life. I switched to OBGYN residency at Creighton University many moons ago and fell in love with the midwest, the school, and most certainly the people. Now, going through my MBA, I realize that CHI Health (CommonSpirit Health) is a great place to work for. Welcome to our world and I hope that we get to share some of what we have learnt over these years.
